Job Title: Children and Families Worker
Place of work: St Saviour’s Wendell Park, Cobbold Road, W12 9LN and surrounding area
Hours: 16 hours per week, beginning January 2019
Salary: £10,500 per annum
Responsible to: Priest in Charge

We also firmly believe that the best discipleship for children happens in their own homes, and so we are committed to encouraging and supporting families to flourish. To this end, we are looking to appoint a part-time Children and Families worker.
The Children and Families worker will be responsible for the development, growth and the delivery of the ministry in church and in our community with children and their families.
o Create a strategy for the children and families ministry in coordination with the Priest in Charge.
o To play an active part in the wider St Saviour’s team, contributing to whole-church events, and exercising leadership as part of the staff.
o Plan activities for our Sunday children’s ministry that establishes them in faith, roots them in the Bible and encourages them to encounter God in the Spirit.
o Excellently deliver the Sunday programme.
o Be responsible for the recruitment, training and equipping of Sunday team and pastorally investing in them.
o Be part of the core team involved in envisioning, planning and delivering multi-generational sections of our services.
o Involve and include children in our church family life and Sunday services more widely – for example if older children want to serve and contribute ideas.
o Support families (particularly under-5’s families) to integrate into church life and work with leadership teams to make each space that is appropriate and properly accessible for those families.
o Build community with parents and carers to empower their engagement and involvement.
Wider church life
o Designing and co-leading one-off seasonal and community events and services for children and families as needed around the liturgical calendar year under the direction of the Priest in Charge. In the past these have included the Christingle service, a light party on Halloween, the church Patronal (birthday) party, Easter donkey rides in the park, a summer garden party at the vicarage with children’s activities.
o Pastoral care of children and families where appropriate.
o Be responsible for the running of our outreach focused parents and tots group mid-week/or volunteers who run it.
o Be connected with the community and seek out opportunities to support families.
o Co-ordinate all DBS checks and safeguarding policies, liaising with our parish administrator.
o Be a budget holder, responsible for regular reports and accountability of ministry finances.
o Co-ordinate and communicate team rotas for all Sunday children’s programmes.
o A leader who is passionate about working with children and their families.
o Proven deliverer of programmes, who will also build strong lay leadership teams around them.
o Creative implementer.
o Solid experience and confident with leading children into encounter with God, with a balance of word and spirit.
o Excellent communicator with adults and children.
o Self-motivated and effective personal discipline.
o Ability to encourage and sustain voluntary teams.
o Experience with Christian children’s work.
o Diligent at forward planning.
o Excellent organisational skills.
o Good time management skills with ability to prioritise.
o Pastoral understanding and sensitivity.
o Works well under pressure and meets deadlines.
o Confident user of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
o Enhanced DBS check.
o A first aid qualification would be ideal but not essential.
