Lauren McKenna, our Children and Families Worker, writes:
Hi, families at St Saviour’s! How exciting to think that next Sunday (20 September) we’ll be back in church together for the first time since March! We’ve been thinking about how to make returning to church as safe as possible for you and your children, taking in guidance from both the government and the Diocese of London.
You’ll find below some links to documents that highlight the steps that will be in place for our first service back together. Handwashing and cleanliness, social distancing, individual resources, and guidelines for volunteers – they’re all explained in the briefing document and the risk assessment.
We understand that it is hard for children to remain socially distant from one another, which is why we have other measures in place, such as having bubbles of children, only using parents as volunteers for the time being, and giving each child a pack of their own resources.
‘The rule of six’ guidance from the government comes into effect on Monday 14 September. So this Sunday, we are still able to meet in Wendell Park, and on the following Sunday, 20 September, ‘the rule of six’ will not apply to us, as the government has made church services exempt from the new restrictions.
