As we journey to Easter this year, we’ll be studying the Book of Hosea together on Zoom, led by Andrew Lowe. The evenings begin on 25 January at 8pm.
The Book of Hosea is the first of the twelve so-called ‘minor’ prophetic books of the Old Testament. The pattern of Sunday readings rarely ventures into this book, yet it is a wonderful expression of God’s loyalty to the rebellious Israel, comparing Israel’s abandonment of God to a woman being unfaithful to her husband.
The eventual reconciliation of Hosea and his wife Gomer is treated as a hopeful picture of the eventual reconciliation between God and Israel, anticipating this fulfilment in the New Testament via Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross.
We’ll be studying Hosea on Zoom over 12 sessions using the LifeBuilder study guide, Hosea: God’s Persistent Love by Dale and Sandy Larsen. We’ve ordered copies of the book, so do ask for your copy at church. The dates and details are:
Tuesday 25 January at 8pm, running every week and finishing on Holy Tuesday, 12 April.
The Zoom link will be included in the weekly church email.
